There is some SEO benefit to having the keyword links that tags provide on your posts but it is minimal in the scheme of things. If you prefer the aesthetics of not having them on the posts then leave them off. If you are going to forego tag links on individual posts I would suggest at least having a list of most popular tags or a tag cloud in the sidebar of the main blog page like how I have set up on this page - http://www.webchiquemarketing.com/blog/.

Hello,

I've read your article and I have a question.

Is it important to make the tags visible on every post? I have my posts tagged, but the new theme I installed does not show them publicly. I kind of like it this way, it keeps the page clean.

Thanks in advance for your response!

That is how many CMS are built but not Wordpress which is what makes it infinitely more SEO friendly. If you go to the sitemap or Google's index of any wordpress site and search for pages on the site with the word "tag", a page will come up for every tag you have on your blog posts. These pages get indexed by Google, making Wordpress very search engine friendly.

Also tag clouds have nothing to do with how tag pages are built or displayed, tag clouds simply display the most often used tags, using larger fonts for the more often used tags. Totally unrelated functionality.

How are tags creating separate pages? When someone clicks on a tag (if there's a tag cloud), what it does is queries the database and builds a displaying page on the fly. Spiders can not crawl info built on the fly.

If you are an admin and it will be there. Make sure that you are logged in under the same Facebook account that you were using when you created the page. It is either that or if somebody else is an admin they could have removed you and in that case you will have to get them to add you back.

Hi,
I am hoping you can help me. I am having some trouble with my FB places page and editing it. When it was first setup there was an "edit" button in the upper right corner. Now there is nothing and I can't make any changes, merge, etc...
Do you know how I can get that option back as I would like to merge or even delete the places page so it does not cause confusion.

Hopefully you can help!
Thanks

In order to answer this question I would need more information on where in the process you are getting stopped from claiming the Facebook place. How far along in the process did you get?

The tag pages in WP are in no way doorway pages. Tag pages take the visitor to a listing of articles that are all relevant to their search term. Doorway pages trick the visitor by taking them to unrelated content, Wordpress would never support or create such functionality. Google loves tag pages.
